Seventy-five years ago Anton Philips donated the Observatory to the people of Eindhoven. One of the things he wanted to indicate with this was that ‘looking across borders’ is important for successful development.
Because in 2013 the Observatory celebrates its 75th anniversary, this was celebrated grandly on 8 September. There were lectures by, among others, André Kuipers and Ed van den Heuvel about space travel and the planetary system. Afterwards people went to the park, where André Kuipers opened the virtual spacewalk. There were also free guided tours throughout the afternoon.
You can always go to the Stadswandelpark Eindhoven to experience it for yourself. For that you need the RuimteWandel app. It is available for iOS and Android. Download it for free and go to the park!
